About the Delta Centre
The Delta Centre is a collection of individual psychologists that offer rehabilitative services to patients in need
Project Spec
After the founder of the Delta Centre left, some of the psychologists at the center wanted to continue their work and took over as the new faces of the Delta Centre. With this being said, they wanted to remodel the current website while still wanting to maintain the same core values and overall vibe they had operated under before. Along with this, they wanted the website's purpose to be more of a way to gain more information about the Delta Centre and less about gaining more customers.
The initial research
Before I started to even started to think about designing the website, I took note of not only what parts of the old website the client wanted to keep, but also what was successful and what wasn't.
The Contact Page
Overall, the contact page was the most visited out of all the pages, gaining 28% of the visitors there. Of those visitors, more that 50% contacted the center.
The Practitioners Page
This page was among the top 3 pages visited as well as one of the pages that had the most time spent on. However, this page had the highest bounce rate while also being the only page with no contact button.
I then looked at the current...
While it seemed like in the past, the website had been doing well, I still thought it was important that it was going to keep doing well in the future. With this being said, I performed some competitive analysis to make sure that I would be able to give my clients good advice that could help them feel more secure in their decisions.
One recurring theme was hero images with the main mission of the center. In general, these hero images and overall themes had blue and green colors as well as a call to action.
There was another theme of overall calming images that brought a feeling of serene and comfort.
Wireframing and user flow
Services Page
Homepage
Based on the research, a calming hero image accompanied with the slogan of the center seemed like it would be the most impactful, but also comforting for potential patients
Individual Service Page
After knowing what services can be offered to a potential patient, the next important thing they want to know is who. For this reason, I made sure to add the images of which practitioner offers this service to make the overall experience of navigating to what they want next simpler.
Services Page
The idea here too was to have subliminal messaging of growth and "stepping towards" because the icons are placed similarly to the way that stepping stones are.
Practitioners Page
Based on the analytics from the original practitioners page saying that this was the most commonly left page, I decided that adding a contact button could be a potential solution to give the user that final push.
Testing it out
The most useful piece of information that I gained from user testing was the way that the practitioners were placed as symbols. Most users found it unclear and didn't know that they were supposed to click it.
With this being said, I decided to make a beginning screen for each service to introduce the most important parts of the service before getting into the real information about the service. After this change, users reported to have an easier, but also happier time when using the website.
The final result
Overall, my client was satisfied with the project. They had felt like their needs had been met and heard as well as captured the feel they were going for
Laura was a delight to work with. She has the great combination of the technical know how and the creative ideas that helped us get a website that we are very happy with. She is responsive and always got back to us in a timely fashion. She is very good at explaining how the technology works so that even technologically challenged people like me can understand it! She was very quick to understand what we wanted and able to make suggestions as to how best set up the website for our purpose. It is a pleasure to recommend her.
Laura has been a real asset in helping us to develop our new website, both from a technical and design point of view. Laura is both knowledgeable and creative and was able to come up with very helpful suggestions and solutions to our website queries and concerns. Laura is easy to engage with and we would happily use her services again going forward.
